Notable Health Care Leaders: Dr. William Pennington

Class of 2023

Dr. William “Bill” Pennington is a leader and inspiration in the field of orthopedics, according to Dr. Thomas Parisi, a fellow orthopedic surgeon at the Orthopedic Institute of Wisconsin in Franklin.

“Although he started his practice with a small orthopedic group, he subsequently started his own shoulder surgery fellowship, has been awarded Clinical Instructor of the Year at the Medical College of Wisconsin, has been voted to the peer-elected Top Doctors List of Orthopedic Surgeons over 10 years straight, and helped found an orthopedic specialty hospital,” Parisi said.

Pennington has published 12 peer-reviewed articles, continues to present at national and international orthopedic conferences, co-founded an orthopedic laser therapy center, and got his executive masters health care administration degree at the University of Southern California.

His appointments include chief of staff at the Midwest Orthopedic Specialty Hospital, vice president of the Orthopedic Institute of Wisconsin and executive board member at The Surgery Center in Franklin.

Pennington has been described by colleagues as a “great partner, surgeon and orthopedic business visionary” and a “collaborative relationship builder who has the strategic vision.”
